Perspective drawings from weeks 3 and 4 of traditional, all angles shown here were judged by eye using the pencil technique and I think I've got a good amount of accuracy in my perspective lines despite the lack of a set vanishing point.

A collection of blind, speed, perspective and varying line weight drawings from the first three traditional classes. I'm learning how to properly render and capture the forms of the subject effectively and how making quick thumbnail sketches of an entire piece can help aid in drawing the final piece, as you get an idea for the composition and can identify mistakes you would otherwise make later. Speed drawings are my favourite warmup exercise for this reason, as it becomes similar to automatic drawing in that I'm not required to engage my brain so much as draw what I'm seeing.

first self directed traditional piece trying to implement what i've learned in class to get a decent result as i have precisely zero clue what i'm doing, but i think for how inexperienced i am, taking mike's advice on board and using techniques i've been shown the result is, while a solid D-, something I'm happy with and work i didnt believe myself to be capable of at the year start

Updated dagger with less polygons and the beginning of my treasure chest model. The dagger has been prepped for UV wrapping but both models need to be assigned the correct smoothing groups.
My Aspirations. My dream job could be just about anything right now, I'm not sure if I want to be a character artist, an environment artist, or a concept artist. I've tried my hand teaching in my spare time and while it's been a great way to learn myself it's not something I could ever see myself following as a career. Back in college I watched a documentary on the making of The Last of Us and through that I think the company I'd most like to work for is Naughty Dog. Their work environment is really relaxed, they have a sense of togetherness in the way the office stations are arranged and the departments all interact with one another to run ideas back and forth, and so they have a much more involved and creative workflow.  On their current website they have a temporary assignment for an environment artist which lists the following requirements:  Experience modeling environments for games using Maya, or related experience/software An exceptional underst...
